Finswimming World Championship Day 1

L’Italia torna sul tetto del mondo della 4×200 e lo fa con un record del mondo epocale. Ad un anno dalla delusione degli Europei di Kazan, Cesare Fumarola, Andrea Nava, Julio Tugnoli e Stefano Figini tornano padroni assoluti della staffetta stracciando il primato mondiale che già apparteneva all’Italia da Eger 2008. Con 5’27”89 gli azzurri surclassano gli avversari di sempre, i russi Evgeny Smirnov, Sergey Prus, Roman Maletin e Dmitry Kokorev (5’33”07) e un’ottima Grecia che schiera William Paul Baldwin, Antonios Tsouronakis, Ilias Kranias, Anargyros Vasilopoulos (5’33”91). Il trionfo italiano però non si ferma qui: in prima frazione infatti Cesare Fumarola migliora il proprio record mondiale dei 200 np fermando i cronometri a 1’21”28, 4 centesimi meno del tempo stabilito a Lignano in primavera. Da segnalare sono tutte le frazioni degli atleti azzurri con Andrea Nava tornato sui propri migliori livelli di sempre (1’21”05), Julio Tugnoli che vince al mattino il ballottaggio con Kevin Zanardi e nuota 1’25”28 e un fenomenale Stefano Figini da 1’20”27.
Quello dell’Italia non è l’unico record di giornata: nei 400 np femminili la cinese Jiao Liu riesce nell’impresa di abbattere il primato di Vasilisa Kravchuck, qui terza classificata e visibilmente delusa. 3’12”90 è l’incredibile crono della nuova campionessa del mondo che sopravanza il duo russo composto da Valeria Baranovskaya (3’15”86) e appunto Vasilisa Kravcuk (3’20”67). Da registrare purtroppo l’assenza di Giorgia Viero dalla finale che nelle batterie del mattino nuota in 3’27”28, tempo che le vale il 9° posto, ma l’appuntamento importante sarà quello di domani con la doppia distanza dove difende il titolo e record europeo. Sempre nelle batterie del mattino, Federica Longo Vaschetti è 13esima in 3’35”06.
La prima finale della giornata era però stata quella dei 50 apnea dove a spuntarla è la favorita Baozhen Zhu, con però un tempo ben lontano dal suo primato. 16”37 vale comunque la medaglia d’oro alla cinese mentre l’argento va a Camille Heitz (Francia 16”75) e il bronzo a Anna Ber (Russia 16”85), dopo le incredibili false partenze di due delle pretendenti al podio, l’ucraina Artiushenko che si getta con largo anticipo in acqua e la cinese Xu che addirittura rimane seduta fino all’”a posto”! Per l’Italia al mattino Laura Battilani nuota un positivo 17”85 che le vale il 15° posto.
I 100 vs vanno invece da pronostico al russo Pavel Kabanov che con 32”25 ha la meglio del coreano Taekyum Kim (32”73) e del colombiano Mauricio Fernandez (32”94) con anche in questa gara una netta falsa partenza di uno dei pretendenti al titolo, il cinese Jinlong Cen, il più rapido nelle batterie.
Da segnalare poi le qualifiche dei 1500 maschili con Stefano Figini e Alberto Rota che superano agevolmente il turno con il 5° e 7° tempo e prenderanno quindi parte alla finale in programma domani pomeriggio.
Nella serata la piazza centrale di Hódmezővásárhely si è poi animata per la cerimonia d’apertura del Campionato per la quale, come ovviamente per tutte le foto di oggi, vi rinviamo alla gallery che sarà presto online.

Field day at the CMAS Finswimming World Championship: three unbelivable records had been broken during the finals of this afternoon. The most impressive feat is made by the italian 4×200 relay men that sets the new world record with the incredible time of 5’27″89, 4 seconds under the previous record dated Eger 2008. In the same race Cesare Fumarola, first relay runner of the team, with 1’21″28, also sets the new world record of 200 sf: two records in the same race. Amazing! We have to mention the name of all the member of the team and their great times: Andrea Nava (1’21”05), Julio Tugnoli (1’25”28) and a fantastic Stefano Figini (1’20”27). The silver medal goes to russian team (Evgeny Smirnov, Sergey Prus, Roman Maletin and Dmitry Kokorev – 5’33”07) while the bronze is Greece with William Paul Baldwin, Antonios Tsouronakis, Ilias Kranias and Anargyros Vasilopoulos (5’33”91).

The 400 sf women is the other incredible race of this first day of competition: with the final time of 3’12″90, the chinese Jiao Liu beats the WR held by Vasilisa Kravchuck who is third at the end with 3’20″67 after her countrywoman Valeria Baranovskaya who swam 3’15″86.

In the first final of the day, 50m apnea, the winner is the favorite Baozhen Zhu, who sets a result very far from her record. 16’’37 brings, in any case, the gold medal to the neck of the chinese girl, while the silver medal goes to Camille Heitz (France 16’’75) and the bronze medal goes to Anna Ber (Russia 16’’85). In this competition there were two incredible false starts by the two girls nominated for the podium, the ucranian Artiushenko, who jumps into the water before the start and the chinese Xu, who stays sit until the “take your marks”!

The 100m velosub goes, as forecasted, to the russian Pavel Kabanov, who beats, with the time of 32’’25, the corean Taekyum Kim (32’’73) and the colombian Mauricio Fernandez (32’’94). Even in this race, one of the nominated winner, the chinese Jinlong Chen, faster one during the morning heats, runs up against a false start.

In the evening the main square of the town has been an open-air theatre for the opening ceremony of the Championship for which, as for all the photos of the day, we’re going to publish a gallery soon.

Grande journée aux Championnats du Monde CMAS de nage avec palmes: trois records du monde incroyables ont été battus pendant les finales de cet après-midi. La performance la plus impressionnante est celle du relais italien 4×200 qui améliore son propre record du monde avec le super temps de 5’27″89, 4 secondes en moins qu’à Eger 2008. Dans la même épreuve Cesare Fumarola, premier relayeur de l’équipe établit aussi le nouveau record du 200 sf en 1’21″28: deux records en une couse, fantastique! Mais on retiendra aussi les temps des autres athlètes du relais: Andrea Nava (1’21”05), Julio Tugnoli (1’25”28) et un immense Stefano Figini (1’20”27). La medaille d’argent va au team russe composé par Evgeny Smirnov, Sergey Prus, Roman Maletin et Dmitry Kokorev en 5’33”07, le bronze à la Grece avec William Paul Baldwin, Antonios Tsouronakis, Ilias Kranias et Anargyros Vasilopoulos (5’33”91).
Le 400 sf dames est l’autre course où le record du monde est tombé. Avec le temps final de 3’12″90, la chinoise Jiao Liu surclasse l’ancienne detentrice Vasilisa Krachuck (Russie) qui finit troisième en 3’20″67, derrière aussi sa coéquipière Valeria Baranovskaya qui nage en 3’15″86.
La première finale de la journée avait été celle du 50 ap dames où c’est la favorite Baozhen Zhu (Chine) à gagner sans pourtant nager sur son meilleur temps. 16″37 lui donne quand même l’or devant la française Camille Heitz (16″75) et la russe Anna Ber (16″85) dans une épreuve où il faut signaler les incroyables faux départs de deux des aspirants au podium, l’ukrainienne Artiushenko qui plonge largement en avance, et la chinoise Xu qui reste assise sur le plot au “à vos marques”!
Le 100 is comme pronostiqué va au russe Pavel Kabanov qui nage en 32″25 et devance la concurrence, le coréen Taekyum Kim (32”73) et le colombien Mauricio Fernandez (32”94). Même dans cette course il faut signaler le faux départ de un des favoris au titre, le chinois Jinlong Cen qui avait signé le meilleur temps dans les séries du matin.
